Turquoise! What's Your Color?
Posted by Four Corners USA OnLine on 20th Feb 2015
When we think of the color Turquoise the fist image for many that comes to mind is a Blue with soft green hue commonly found in color charts. In Jewelry Making, the color of Turquoise stone as designed by Mother Nature takes on an entirely different meaning.
Sometimes when I am putting an order together I get excited to see how well a customer has matched stones on our website (excited because maybe I had not made that connection and proud that our images made that choice possible).
When a potential Customer asks us to match their piece of jewelry by offering to send an image, this can be a mostly impossible task because those subtle differences in hue can be either totally missed or totally exaggerated in an image when the stones are not next to each. This is mainly because of quality of image based on lighting, size etc.
Making Jewelry with Turquoise and matching color whether for a pair of earrings or multi stone bracelet can be a daunting task like finding a needle in a haystack. Here are some images of only Kingman Turquoise cut and polished; as you can see the color variant is great.
