Wonderfully Handcrafted Zuni Mother-of-Pearl post style earrings with Sunface design. These earrings are a wonderful blend of traditional and contemporary design set in Sterling Silver. Measures approximately 2 and a 1/4 inches high by 5/8 of an inch wide.
Zia Sunface is a symbol of happiness, giver of life, warmth, growth, all that is good. The Zia Sunface was adopted by New Mexico in the early 1900's for their State Flag. Various styles of this symbol are seen throughout the American Southwestern Indian cultures.
Mother of Pearl has been used in Southwest Native American jewelry for hundreds of years. Brought inland by the west coast indigenous people and used as a trade currency.
