Turquoise is the ultimate healing stone, providing solace for the spirit and well-being for the body. It is a protective stone and has been used since ancient times. Native Americans call Turquoise the 'Sky Stone' and believe it is both male and female gender. Blue turquoise being male as in 'Father Sky' and green turquoise being female as in 'Mother Earth'. Some properties of Turquoise are spiritual attunement, cleansing, healing, protection, valor, soothing, peace of mind, guidance through the unknown, romantic spontaneity.

Lapis lazuli has been mined in the Badakhshan province of Afghanistan for over 6,000 years, and trade in the stone is ancient enough for lapis jewelry to have been found at Predynastic Egyptian sites (as archeologists have frequently stated, but lapis could also be found in, e.g. the Siwa Oasis in the Western Libyan desert), and Lapis beads at neolithic burials in Mehrgarh, the Caucasus, and even as far from Afghanistan as Mauritania.

Gaspeite is a brilliant green with ranges of contrasting green to brown matrix. Some specimens can host white along with the brown. Gaspeite was first discovered in Canada, however that deposit was not considered desirable for jewelry making. During the late 1980's a large boulder was found in Australia which did meet the standards for gem quality. To our knowledge at this time, the Australian deposit remains the only source for jewelry making.

Spiny Oyster Shell has been used in Southwest Native American jewelry for hundreds of years. Brought inland by the west coast indigenous people and used as a trade currency.

Malachite is a famous and very popular semi-precious stone. It is named for the Greek word for "mallow", a green herb. Its banded light and dark green designs are one-of-a-kind, and give it a unique ornamental quality unlike that of any other stone. The light and dark green bands are so distinctive that malachite maybe one of the most easily recognized minerals by the general public. Malachite is popular in Native American Southwestern jewelry. The stones inlayed in silver make a nice variance from the traditional Turquoise jewelry. Instead of competing, the two green stones tend to compliment each other when placed together in the same settings.
